RE: TV Converter Boxes

It all depends.. On two things
If you want the SAME PROGRAM on both front and rear all the time.. And you hook it up right, one will work
If you want to watch one show and your spouse another.. Two converters

RE: REFRIGERATOR WINTERIZED ?

The open valve is the water valve to the ice maker, the line with the heat tape is the water line from the soleonid valve to the ice maker, The line from the open valve connects to the solenoid valve as does the other line, input and outlet respectively
So you have valve----Soleonid-----line to inside of freezer
The white cord may be the power cord for the ice maker if it was an add on

RE: 7 thousand dollar brake repair. Be careful when you buy.

Document everything, have the shop document everything and seek professional help
Also report the original dealer to the the DMV in the state where he does business
Some of the things you cite sound to me like they may be violations of law, however I am not a lawyer and do not know the law in your state so the key word or phrase is "MAY BE"
I would strongly recommend professional help.. The dealer sold you a dangerous rig it appears.
Also,, You may wish to replace the brake hoses

RE: What fire extinguisher do you have? Where do you keep it?

I recommend you contact MAC THE FIRE GUY
http://www.macthefireguy.com/contact_mac_mccoy.htm
There is nothing I could tell you which he does not know. And there is a whole lot he knows about fires and fire extinguishers I've yet to learn, In fact there's stuff he knows I don't even WANT to learn.
So contact him

RE: Parking ordinance violation

My advice is in 3 parts
1: Find the actual ordnance or rule they claim you are in violation of. IT may be a new ord and you may have "Grandfather" rights
2: Seek professional assistance
3: Seek off site storage
(NOTE: I could store it for you however the commute to detroit mi and the on site security would be issues so I'm not really offering)
There is a storage lot 20/month not far from where I'm typing though (Genesee Michigan in the case of the lot, I'm in Davision just now)
However step one is to read the law they claim you are in violation of

RE: Pilot Stations for RV Gasoline

Generally the truck pumps only have "D" not "G" at most stations
I find that getting an outside pump is best.. Wish I'd have done that on my last fill up but alas.. That's why I have insurance

RE: EASTERN MICHIGAN JAYCO DEALERS - Important!!

I got my Damon from General RV in Wixom and have been happy with the service there. Not all General RV's are the same service wise. Or services wise
Mt. Clemons for example does not sell Propane (Wixom does)

RE: 12 volt fan speed controls

Fan motors will change amprage as voltage changes,,, However predicting the change is kind of tough, and it's non-linear The only way to be sure is to stick a meter in the line and play with it.
As for AC lights and a dimmer.. I have never tested it but I believe that they do indeed reduce current draw as voltage is reduced (As you dim them), however again it is NOT linear
The catch is that the common dimmers work by rapidly turning the bulb off and on, this can INCREASE current during the "on" part (While of course cutting it to zero during the off part) again, meter it to be sure A Kill-A-Watt meter is real handy for testing AC stuff

RE: Cell phone & "first alert" type device for elderly

Well here is the phone http://www.jitterbug.com/phones.aspx however the service is the issue. You need to know which provider (With which the phone is compatable) covers her house the best
There is also a special phone that AAA has ads for in their magazines (I think it's a stripped down version of this same phone) it has a few numbers in memory and can call only those numbers) IE: 9-1-1, YOU, that kind of thing
In fact.. it's on the same page (The Jitterbug "one Touch")

RE: How's your digital TV broadcast reception?

How is my digital reception.. Depends on where I'm at
Thousand Trails Saint Clair Preserve it's 0.00000
Here at Michigan's Outdoor Adventure Lakeshore it's 60-80 percent per the signal meter.. All depends on IF there is a digital transmitter in range
What is a digital antenna?
It's a standard 20 dollar UHF bow tie array which is, quite frankly a piece of junk, sold for 100 dollars to gullible people at RV shows, that's what it is, at least one version.
Or, it's a standard analog antenna with "DIGITAL" label slapped on it's face and of course they charge at least 20 bucks (Additional) for that label.
To an antenna there is only RADIO, (Television does not exist to an antenna) What is on the RADIO wave is what determins if it's audio, digital, or video (Television) but to the antenna a radio is a radio is a radio, there is no difference save for frequency and digital TV uses existing TV frequencies

RE: Wireless connection keeps dropping

When I got this computer it worked fine in camp grounds, and at Panera Bread and the like but at home.. I could not even open mail.yahoo.com without seeing "Connection reset"
Found that when I went to device manager (Settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager) and selected the properties for the Wi-Fi adapter there was one set to "Best Battery Life" (note they call it by many names depending on who wrote the driver) I set it to "Best Performance" and... NO more issues.

RE: Will reformat erase all previous information?

There is but one way to insure they can't get the old data off the drive.. That is to "De-militarize" it per the US army's manual for such jobs.. This is a daunting task that involves drills, hammers, explosives, running over it with a tank, flaming it with a flame thrower and generally reducing it to atoms.
However there are several "Data scrubber" programs out there that do multiple over write operations on every sector of a disk,, Short of a tunneling electron microscope they make it kind of hard to steal data off a used drive

RE: Battery Question

Gosh, I did not think I would get so much response. Thank you.
The converter is a Inteli Power 9100
In the world of converters there are two standards by which you can name a converter "The Best"
And the PD 9100 with wizard, or the PD 9200 (Wizard built in) are, by one standard THE BEST
They also do not need a battery.
Just how good are they? Well, in my ham shack there is a very nice radio that likes a steady diet of 12 volt DC This radio can not tell me if the battery is there or not when I'm plugged into shore power, it works just fine, no trace of humm or distortion if the battery is "missing" (Disconnected)
So it will work just fine
Or you could leave the battery in and leave it hooked up.. I mean I have to water my U-2200's annually

RE: Generator needs RV key on to start.

Solenoid clicking like crazy = one of two conditions
1: Bad connection on the 12 volt leads check battery connections (I suspect yours starts on the house battery) and pay special attention to BOTH ENDS of the battery NEGATIVE cable.. Odds are it's the chassis end of that cable (But could be the battery end) also check the battery positive
2: Bad house battery (If it was a bad chassis battery your rig would not start)
NOTE that I am guessing.. But it's a guess based on having been there many times in 40+ years of driving cars and 20+ years of RVing

RE: LP Monitor

There are several types of LP tank monitors
ONE is nothing more than a load cell.. This is a type of electronic scale, it slips under the tank and weighs the tank. Depending on how your tanks are held in palce it works well and is easy to install.. Alas, I do not have a URL for it
Other types rely on other things... Floats inside the tank is common on class A motor homes. You can also measure the pressure (how the auto-change over regulators do it) and you can slap a LCD strip on the tank and check by heating a pan of water to boiling over your propane stove and dumping it over the tank (The top part gets hot quickly, the part with gas in it remains cold, the LCD strip changes color by temp.)

RE: Alignment/Tire Balancing/Flat Spots

Has anyone ever heard of mis-alignment causing tire balancing issues or visa versa?
Please Advise
YES, in fact tire wear is often the 1st sign of mis-alignment
However this should not affect balance, (though from the driver's seat you might be hard pressed to prove that)
It will affect balance though as the tire wears

RE: Propane modification

http://www.marshallbrass.com/rv.htm
Scroll down a bit to find the products, You want the Extend-a-STAY Take picture of it to any RV dealer and they will have 'em in stock, this includes CAMPING WORLD who is a sponsor of this forum
NOTE: The Extend-a-flow will also do what you want, however the Extend-a-Stay has additional features which include
1: Excess flow valve, halts or seriously limits the flow of propane should a line rupture. safety feature, you rig may already have this feature,, OPD valves used on portable tanks today may or may not have an Excess flow feature, they do, have an excess TEMPERTURE feature however.
2: INLET, a check valve protected inlet valve allowing you to not only use your main tank to light your grill.. but to use a protable or other external tank to provide for your motor home.. Very useful if you run out of LP the day before you break camp (Been there, done that, hooked up the 25 pounder and was good to go)
